Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has put an end to “false” reports linking Man Utd star Donny van de Beek to a return to Ajax.
The midfielder rose through the ranks at Ajax. He was a key figure for them for four years between 2016 and 2020.
Van de Beek won the Eredivise and KNVB Cup during his stint with the Dutch giants.
Man Utd and Ole both winners and losers of the Champions League …
The 24-year-old signed for Man United last year for up to £ 40million with additions.
The Dutchman has not played regularly for the Red Devils since moving to the Premier League.
Van de Beek only started in the league four times last season. He has also been absent from the squad this season as he has only played six minutes of Premier League football.
The Man Utd star has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times.
Romano revealed via Twitter this discussion about a return to Ajax for Van de Beek is “false”. Despite this, there is a “huge chance” that he will leave United in January.
Elsewhere, Glen Johnson has suggested that Solskjaer take a similar approach to Jose Mourinho’s as Man Utd boss:
“Mourinho had it when we were at Chelsea. The team he would drop out on a Saturday was about good enough to finish in the top six.
“If you want to be the manager of a top club, you have to be able to make ruthless decisions.
“He has to make big decisions and he has to leave out some big names. Mourinho literally doesn’t care.
“He knew he had a job and he protected his own job by picking a team to win a certain football game.
“If you want to work at big clubs that’s what you have to do, you really have to have that zero tolerance attitude.
“Ole seems like a really nice guy and I can’t imagine he wants to upset a lot of people.
“That’s good, he can do it his way, he doesn’t have to upset people, he can deliver the message however he wants. But he has to deliver it at some point.
